If there is one thing the Rule of Thumb blog from MoneyThumb realizes, it is that most accountants are very dedicated and hardworking people. We mean, seriously, who else in their right mind actually looks forward to the tax season? Accountants do because it is your bread and butter.
However, it is not very often that accountants are publicly recognized for their diligence. Largely known as a quiet, introspective type of person, an accountant does their job and gets on with life without a lot of bells and whistles going off, lauding their accomplishments.
Today we would like to offer your accounting firm a way that we discovered where you can publicly recognize someone at your firm who has done an exemplary job. This person only needs one other thing besides outstanding performance to qualify: they must be under 40-years-old.
One of our peer sites, CPA Practice Advisor, is awarding 40 people in the accounting profession who are under 40 recognition for their exemplary work. There is no cost involved in nominating an accountant under 40 from your firm to receive this award. Here is the link to the nomination page with all of the rules. For your accounting firm's convenience, below the Rules of Thumb blog from MoneyThumb has listed the details and rules from the CPA Practice Advisor website. The deadline for nominations is July 15, 2018, so get busy choosing who you will nominate from your firm!
The "40 Under 40" and "20 Under 40" programs recognize young professionals who are having an impact on the broader accounting and tax profession. "40 Under 40" honorees are those working within the profession, while "20 Under 40" honorees are those working at vendors and organizations that support the profession.
If you know someone deserving of this recognition, please let us know. (Multiple nominations do not increase an individual's likelihood of being selected.) There are no costs involved in the program, either for the person making the nomination or for the person being nominated, regardless of if they are selected. The deadline for nominations is July 15, 2018.
Nominations are open for this prestigious recognition. Here are the rules and expectations:
- Candidates should be working in the accounting field, or supporting the field (public, private, tax preparation, consulting, academia, government) and have not turned 40 as of August 31, 2018. (Please note that candidates who are employed by a vendor serving the accounting profession are also eligible for nomination and will be considered for our "20 Under 40" commendation).
- Candidates can nominate themselves, or can be nominated by their peers, their colleagues, and their fellow professionals in the accounting profession.
- Candidates should have achieved a recognizable level of success and record of achievement.
