It is the end of another month in 2017 and time for one of my favorite posts here at the Rules of Thumb blog from MoneyThumb, time to list what we feel are the best accounting-related blog posts for the month. June 2017 has brought us a wealth of new information that is of utmost importance to accountants, CPAs, bookkeepers, and small business owners. So with further ado, below are the best accounting related blog posts for June 2017:
Web Roundup: The Best Accounting-Related Blog Posts for June, 2017
Our first selection in this roundup is a blog post from Accounting Today, The Black Box of Accounting Technology. In this post, author Ted Needleman explains the accelerating importance of us knowing how the software we are using actually works, and educating ourselves so that we understand the back end of things. Smart advice for anyone using new technology and apps. Like they say, knowledge is power.
Our next choice for best accounting-related blog post is from a blog we really love, Accounting Principles. The article is titled, 5 Ways to Take Charge of Your Career Path in Accounting and Finance. Great advice for those of you who are new to the accounting career path or ones who are considering their future as a current accountant or CPA.
Next is a blog post from the Xero blog, The Financial Web is Handing the Power to Small Business, But They Don't Know it Yet. This is a really great read for accountants and CPAs, but especially for small business owners. Here is a quote from the article, "Companies with open APIs offer a ready-made customer base to smaller companies offering add-on solutions. Moreover these are customers who are aware and embrace this kind of technology. But one thing is for certain – there is work to be done in proving to the wider business community about how game changing these developments will be in the future, giving the power back to small businesses."
The CPA Journal has a great post listing two financial reporting blogs so that all CPAs, bookkeepers, accountants, and small business owners can stay abreast of the changes, tax laws, etc, in the field.
CPAs enter 2017 with the responsibility of addressing new accounting and reporting standards in an environment of increased data security necessity and regulatory requirements. When facing new rules or procedures, it is often helpful to learn from colleagues who are willing to share their expertise. This month’s column presents a roundup of recent articles, videos, and other useful resources on two professional firms’ excellent weblogs.
Moody, Famiglietti & Andronico--MFA’s blog (http://www.mfa-cpa.com/Our-Thinking) offers articles written by partners and associates, along with related videos and whitepapers. Categories include typical CPA firm practice areas of audit and assurance, financial reporting, tax, and valuation.
Morgan Lewis is an international law firm offering services in the areas of corporate finance and investment management, as well as litigation and regulation, among other specializations. Its website (http://www.morganlewis.com) offers videos, publications, and podcasts in its practice areas. The firm sponsors several excellent blogs, all of which can be found at https://www.morganlewis.com/our-thinking/blogs.
Hopefully the selections we have made for the best accounting-related blog posts for the month of June, 2017 will offer all the greatest advice, information, tech and tax updates that you could want to advance your own firm's bottom line.
